The Leadership Initiative program includes
Five Assessments to Reveal
Your Leadership Competencies
you will use this knowledge about your
leadership competencies in each and every
Leadership session that you attend

Personality Traits that drive a person's behavior
are revealed using the WorkPlace Big Five ProFile(
a five-factor model of personality) is used as a means of interpreting and understanding personality--to help us understand WHY people do what they do.  It measures five personality dimensions--or the Big Five Factors.

Behaviors Triggered by Conflict
are revealed using the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument.  This assessment evalutes your awarness of your "automatic pilot" group of behaviors that are triggered by a conflict.  Then, you are provided with other strategies that may be more successful in achieving the outcome your desire when confronted with a negotiation.

The 67 Leadership Competencies that are used to identify skills & behaviors needed to succeed are revealed using the Voices® 360° Leadership Assessment.  You (the Leadership learner) will receive information from significant others all around you:  boss(es), peers, direct reports, customers, and others.  Feedback is given on two factors:  how important each competency is to successful performance of your job; and how well you are demonstrating the competency.  In order to preserve anonymity, the ratings are clustered into groups, and scores are averaged in the fiinal report.  In scoring, the boss(es)' ratings are double-weighted since they have greatest influence over a "learner's" success. The final report provides a picture of how others perceive you by each competency.  The learner also completes a self assessment, and the self assessment is compared to each of the other group's perceptions.

Communications
The Crucial Conversations Communication ASSESSMENT
Believing that effective communication is a keystone competency, participation in the Leadership Initiative requires successful completion of a two-day "Crucial Conversations" training.  During the process participants can, individually, respond about themselves and tabulate an effectiveness score in each "crucial conversation" skill area; AND participate in a 360° assessment (similar to the Voices® assessment).  A report is compiled that provides you with feedback about how others perceive the effectiveness of your communication strategies and behaviors.

 Communications, Problem-Solving, &
Decision-Making Preferences
are revealed using the MBTI--Myers Briggs Type Indicator.  There are no right or wrong answers, and no assumed "right way to be".  We each have different behaviorial preferences when we approach situations.  The MBTI lets us clarify what those preferences are so we know how to be most effective in our interactions with others.  The purpose is NOT to put anyone in a "box", but to raise some questions about one's preferred approach to the world and to the things that seem to "get in the way" of being effective.  The assessment also helps in understanding the same about others.  Over two million Americans take the MBTI each year.

You will learn about your personality profile and how it relates to the typical leader profile.  Then you can customize a leader profile to your department & job, and learn strategies to compensate in those areas where you differ from the typical leader profile.
